It’s My Birthday!
Happy Birthday, to me!
This February, I was offered a contract on my first novel by a small press publishing house. While I didn’t feel the non-negotiable contract was in my best favor, I did decline the opportunity.
However, I am so thrilled to say that on this day, my 36th birthday, I have reached a level of storytelling that someone was willing to invest in. I have moved from a place of wondering about the quality of my work to knowing that I have the ability to write a clear story, with an engaging plot, a mess of colorful characters, delivered through realistic dialogue.
While I could have said ‘yes’ and had my first book in my hands this December, I am willing to wait for the right deal to come along that is in my favor as well as the publisher’s.
What an awesome birthday present!!

That is very good news, and kudos to you for waiting to get what you truly deserve. It is important to have your work recognized.
Brilliant!! I am beaming, reading this, too fabulous! Congrats- I am glad you are going to wait for the right situation to come along- I know that day will soon come. But YES these words made me want to dance- “I have reached a level of storytelling that someone was willing to invest in.” AYE! A wonderful gift!
Ebullient and most scintillatingly jubilant (belated oh dear!) birthday wishes, dear lass! Cheers,
