BOOK REVIEW: the year the swallows came early

the year the swallows came early

This is a truly remarkable book. Katheryn Fitzmaurice debuts with this story of a girl learning to cope with life’s curve balls, sprinkled with cooking, swallows, and broken relationships.
Her use of language is amazing. The development and integration of her characters had me turning the pages until the book was finished. She expertly tackled an immensely difficult and personal topic with heart and tenderness, yet without losing the grit of the situation, and staying true to the story.
