DELETE by Jaimie M. Engle

delete1delete your voice from in my ears

delete the pain and all the tears

delete myself from in this cage

delete your face from my page

delete your name from in my phone

delete your stuff inside my home

delete the time already paid

delete the life we almost made

delete you

now you don’t exist

forget your scent

and the way that you kissed

pretend you’re gone

seems so easy to do

but I can’t delete

the memory of you

delete you lying on my bed

delete all of those lies you said

delete your arms holding me tight

delete your presence in the night

delete your skin I once caressed

delete my heart inside my chest

delete this pain I just can’t take

delete our love for it was fake

delete you

now you don’t exist

forget your scent

and the way that you kissed

pretend you’re gone

seems so easy to do

but I can’t delete

the memory of you

and now I know that to be free

I must delete a piece of me
